Our Team

Meet our team here.

Are there any educational requirements for Executive Development Programs?

Our open enrollment programs are open to all learners and do not require proof of degree or diploma.

Who typically attends programs offered here?

Our expert faculty and seasoned instructors deliver programs that are open to anyone looking to expand their business horizons. Our participants come from diverse backgrounds, and that diversity contributes to ample opportunities to encounter different viewpoints and networking opportunities for professionals. We offer an exciting variety of management topics. For more information on the intended audience of each program, please open our program offerings and check the "Who Should Attend?" section.

Do I really need an account to register?

Yes!  Your learner account allows you to manage and track your registrations, program completion and payment history. For some programs, access to learning materials is also provided through your learner portal.

I have participated in programs offered by MSU Executive Development Programs before.  Why am I being asked to create an account now?

In June 2022, we implemented a new registration system to serve you better.  Our legacy system records were not brought forward.  We still retain customer histories prior to June 2022 and are happy to help if you have questions about your records.

Can I create multiple accounts for myself?

We do not recommend creating multiple accounts.  If you have created a duplicate account in error, we are happy to merge your accounts for you.

I already have a faculty/staff, student or guest account in MSU's D2L.  Can I merge my existing account with the account in my learner portal?

D2L accounts provisioned through your EDP learner portal cannot be merged with any other MSU D2L accounts.  If you wish to access program materials using an existing account, you may contact us at edp@broad.msu.edu.

Nursing Home Administration

I don’t have any education past high school can I still take the program? What are your educational requirements?

Participants of all education levels have had success in our NHA program. To register for the program, there are no educational requirements or prerequisite classes.

How many people can attend each program? Should I be worried that I won’t get in?

At this time, we can accommodate a large class size due to our live, online learning environment. Registrations in recent years have not reached our maximum capacity. However, it is always better to register early!

Does this program qualify me for a license?

Yes, this program meets the State of Michigan’s educational requirements for licensure. Upon successful completion of the program, you may apply for a license. The State of Michigan will match your application to the education verification that we submit directly to the State upon successful completion of this program and all of our requirements. You will then be eligible to take the CORE and LOS examinations administered through the National Association of Long- Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB). The State of Michigan will verify that you passed the examinations and met all other requirements before issuing you a license.

Do I need to buy books or anything else? What do I need to attend the program?

You do not need to buy books. All materials will be provided to you during the program. You are required to use a computer, laptop, or tablet during the program. You will be using several tools simultaneously (e.g., Zoom, PowerPoint or Adobe PDF viewer, survey software, etc.). Additionally, all materials are digital and they are easier to interact with on a bigger screen.

Is this class offered online or in-person?

This course is offered live, online. You will log into a web conferencing platform to participate in the program. You will interact with the instructor, the producer, and your fellow participants. The instructor is focused on delivering content to you in an engaging way. The producer is focused on helping you and the instructor with all technical aspects of the class as well as engaging with you using virtual tools, like Chat.

*If you haven’t used Zoom before, we will walk you through how to log in and use the Zoom tools before you start your first session. All past participants have found that Zoom is very easy to use on their devices.

What is your attendance policy?

There are 4 units in the program. There are 6 sessions per unit, for a total of 24 sessions in the program. You are permitted to miss 2 of the 24 sessions without penalty or additional work required. You may miss up to 2 additional sessions but will need to complete additional assignments to demonstrate that you understand the materials from those missed sessions. After that, you will need to repeat units in order to earn the certificate and to be eligible to sit for the licensure exam.

Can I transfer into your program if I have started somewhere else?

You are welcome to participate in our program. However, we cannot accept hours completed at another institution at this time.

Is the class for Michigan licensing only or does it apply to other states?

This program is for Michigan licensing only. Some participants that live near the Michigan border do attend and then work in a MI facility once licensed.

How much homework is there? Are there any tests?

Homework and tests are not currently part of the curriculum of the program. We do recommend that you study the materials each week as there is a large volume of knowledge covered on the NHA certification exams.

How do I register? Do I need to apply to Michigan State University?

You can register right on our website (https://execed.broad.msu.edu/open-programs/industry-specific/, scroll to the next available Nursing Home Administration Unit). You do not need to apply to Michigan State University as a student. Your registration through our website is sufficient.

Will I receive University Credit?

You will not receive degree credits for the program.

Do I need to sign up for all 4 units at once?

To complete the entire program, you will need to register for and attend all four units. You may sign up for one unit at time or you may register for all 4 units at the same time. Registering for any single unit does not automatically enroll you in any other units. Each unit must be signed up for individually.

Do I need to start with Unit 1 or can I start with any Unit? Do the Units need to be taken in order?

You do not need to start with Unit 1. But the units do need to be taken in order. You can start with the next available unit. For example, you could start with Unit 3 and then take Units 4, 1 and 2 in that order.

The website says registration for the next unit is closed. Why is that?

We close registration for the year at the end of Unit 4 and then re-open registration 2 months before the start of Unit 1. Our webpage lists the date that we will open registration. (https://execed.broad.msu.edu/open-programs/industry-specific/, scroll to the next available Nursing Home Administration Unit.)

What is the cancellation policy for this program?

All cancellation requests must be made in writing. Cancellation requested greater than 15 days prior to the start of a program will be processed without a cancellation fee. In these situations, any payments made will either be returned or credited towards a future program. All credits must be used within one year of the date of issuance. Cancellations requested within 15 days prior to the start of the program will be limited to unexpected emergency situations and are subject to a cancellation fee. Participant substitutions are welcome at any time prior to the start of the program. If a registered participant does not attend the program and does not notify us in advance, the participant will be charged the full program fee.

Are there payment plans for this program?

Yes! If you sign up for the bundle and pay by credit card, adding only the Nursing Home Administration Series and related programs to your cart, you will have the option to pay via a payment plan, which will include a deposit of $345 due at registration and eleven equal installments of $305 due every 30 days. Contact edp@broad.msu.edu for more information.

My employer is paying for the program. Do I need to let MSU know about that?

That’s great! No, you do not need to let MSU know any of the details of how your employer is paying for you to come to the program.

Are scholarships or tuition assistance available?

Because this program is a non-credit program, financial aid, scholarships and tuition assistance are not available.

Does this program qualify me for a license?
